Points to note when coming to the library by car
All of these libraries have parking.
There is no charge if your car is parked for 30 minutes or less.
If your car is parked for more than 30 minutes, there is a charge of 300 yen.
Searching for a book
When looking for a book, you can ask the library staff.
Libraries have an online catalog (OPAC) which you can use to search for a book.
You can look for a book in the library on the Internet.
Reading a book

There is no charge for reading a book.
There is no charge for borrowing a book, either.
You may freely read the books within the libraries.
Obtaining a library card
You will need a library card to borrow a book.
Library cards can be issued at the library for those who live, work, or attend school in Aichi Prefecture.
There is no charge to obtain a library card.
To obtain a library card, please fill in the Individual Checkout Registration Form and show an ID card containing your name and address. (e.g., driver's license, student ID, or health insurance card)
Passwords for making a reservation or requesting a renewal can be issued on the library website as well.

Services available if you have a password (services that can be accessed on My Page)
On the Internet, you can check the number, title, and return date of the materials you have borrowed.
It is also possible to request a renewal online.
In addition, you can check what materials you have reserved and whether they are available now.
It is also possible to cancel your reservation or change the contact method you have registered.

You may use the e-book service as well. (In addition to paper books, you may check out up to 3 items).
Checking out a book

To borrow a book, present your library card and the book at the counter.
You may check out up to six books, three picture-card shows, and three CDs or DVDs for two weeks.
If you have not missed the due date and there are no reservations for the book, you can request a one-time renewal.
The extension period is two weeks from the date of the renewal.
Please apply for a renewal at the library circulation desk, by phone, or on the library website within the checkout period.
Returning a book
You may return a book at any of the libraries in Nagoya City.
To return a book, present the book at the counter.
When the library is closed, put the book in the book drop.
Do not put CDs or DVDs in the book drop.
The book drop is located beside the entrance to the library.
Reserving a book
You can make a reservation for books that have been borrowed by other people.
You can reserve up to six books, three picture-card shows, and three CDs or DVDs.
If the borrowed material is lost or soiled
Please contact the library from where you checked out the material.
In principle, you will need to compensate with the same material you borrowed or an alternative material designated by the library.

In case of soiling or damage, we will decide on the compensation after examining the condition of the material.
There are also exemptions in case of theft or fire.
Photocopy service
You can photocopy library materials within the scope of the Copyright Act.
Please fill out the Copy Application Form and apply to the circulation desk.

There is a charge for photocopying.
Both black-and-white copies and color copies are available.
Black-and-white copies are 10 yen per page.
The fee for color copies depends on the paper size.
Color copies on small-sized paper (sizes B5 and A4) are 50 yen per page.
Color copies on large-sized paper (sizes B4 and A3) are 80 yen per page.
What should I do if I have questions?
